Leeward Island Scholars from the period 1930 to 1966 and State Scholars from 1967 to present. I would like to thank Mr. Sylvester Leader for his valiable assistance in getting this list together. The last Leeward Island Scholar was in 1966 and he was Mr. Shutley Elmes. On becoming an associated state in 1967 the State Scholarship began and the first State Scholar was Mr. Noel Vanier from Fortlands. 1975 Mr. Wendell Lawrence was the third consecutive Nevisian to win the State Scholarship. The best Scholar that year was a Miss Kelsick but she turned it down and it was awarded to Mr. Lawrence.
