I Vow To Thee My Country

I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above,
Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love:

The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test,
That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best;
The love that never falters, the love that pays the price,
The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.

And there's another country, I've heard of long ago,
Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know;
We may not count her armies, we may not see her King;
Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering;
And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase,
And her ways are ways of gentleness and all her paths are peace.

Land of our Birth

Land of our Birth, we pledge to thee

Our love and toil in the years to be;

When we are grown, and take our place

As men and women with our race.

Father in Heaven who lovest all,

O help thy children when they call;

That they may build from age to age,

An undefiled heritage.

Teach us to bear the york in youth,

With steadfastness and careful truth;

That, in our time, Thy grace may give,

The true whereby the nations live.

Teach us delight in simple things,

And mirth that has no bitter strings;

Forgiveness free of evil done,

And love to all men ‘neath the sun!

Land of our Birth, our faith, our pride

For whose dear sake our fathers died;

O Mother Land, we pledge to thee,

Head, heart, and hand through the years to be.
